Solange had the very good idea of taking some tales from Alicia Morel, a chilean writer specially renowned for her works for children, and who’s an old friend of us from years. We deeply admire her and her works.
Alicia belongs to an old generation, much previous than ours, however and maybe because we were so close, almost relatives, her tales were always part of our lives, and I really think they worth as educational support material even nowadays, despite they use a so old language and expression way, so far from what we would expect from “children music”.
These tales belong to a generation in which childhood was a matter of “subtle life experiences”, more related to the games, impressions, nature… difficult to define, but anyway something totally different to the sensorial overstimulation that the children music gives to the kids nowadays.
Alicia wrote several tales about a very interesting character we wanted to feature. “Polita” is a little ant who discovers the world beside her aunt, an ant that she sing every sentence she wants to say, something that suits perfectly well to the musicalised histories.
Once again, Solange wrote all the compositions and I made the arrangement. We were helped again by lovely relatives that recorded the different characters in the tales. We are really very satisfied with the results, but about that, better ask the kids.
