Live in Patagonia, AguileraRod playing COMUNION

After some months away (travelling around and playing wherever an opportunity shines), I spent part of the south summer in Coyhaique, for making a couple of concerts with Aguilera and his Pussycats… Result? an amazing concert, nice venue, lot of good people around, cool vibe, the best beer ever tasted and the will to go back again next summer (or before, who knows).

“Comunión” the song that names the album, for you all, with an enormous love.

2018 – Comunion

Comunion, album recorded during my stay in Coyhaique, Chilean Patagonia, in January 2018. Genre? kind of rock/pop/alternative/jazzfusion/folk not too sophisticated and quite easy to digest, just like us. It was also a good opportunity to have been invited by Juan Pablo for making a beautiful travel and having a good time with friends that time left so far in the south.

Despite of the word meaning, “Comunion”, widely used in the catholic liturgy, our meaning (that’s also the main subject in all of the songs) refers more to the simple act that gives sense to the fact of being alive: union among persons.

2017 – La Aldea

LA ALDEA COVER front300“La Aldea”, in simple words it is a compilation from many songs recorded around 2012, which now I had the opportunity to remix and master. All the track they were recorded in different moments, different moods ands with collaboration of different people who offered me their help just for love to the music.

Despite it wasn’t intended, it finally had a clear message beyond the lyrics and now it shows itself clear for me. Beyond the music, the real meaning of this works appears suddenly in front of me as a guide, as a kind of Bible that I, without knowing, wrote to myself.

All this is very personal and doesn’t worth for anybody else but me. But the music has a meaning for everyone. So you’re kindly invited to join.

2013 – Las Tardes eternas de Lluvia

CARATULA frontal prevThis was the my second release in LP format and a very special one. In this album I put some songs that I had composed before, arranged into solo piano versions with small synthesiser interventions, together with a bunch of little improvised pieces that came out among the recording sessions, many of them completely free from previous ideas. It’s the magic of what you can catch in the moment.

It sounds pretty much like contemporary jazz sometimes, but is just the appearance, the essence remains lost in a hidden place between theoretically well-arrange music and land of the pure sounds, where nothing fits into mathematical functions, where just the feelings are the engine that moves the world.

More information in the website I specially created for this work, and which is unfortunately only in Spanish, but once again, the language belongs to this theoretically well-arrange land, the feelings are wordless.

2010 – Amanecer

caratula MASTER v2_400This was an interesting work, don’t know if I would ever be in the mood of doing something similar again. I had a progressive rock band many years ago… rock although there were no guitars on stage. We played only with keyboards using distortion on the Fender Rhodes piano.

I composed some songs for that band that I really loved, but that we never could play on stage for several reasons until the band broke up. Everything stood forgotten until I decided to record those songs in a summer of leisure at my studio, some years after.

There was no money, no musicians… there were not even listeners…nevertheless, the spirit of music spoke to me from above: the road is the only thing meaningful, the process what brings satisfaction, doing is what matters.
